No meeting between Armenian leader and Turkish FM in Rome
June 03, 2011 | 12:49
YEREVAN.- Turkish and Azerbaijani media outlets exaggerated greatly
writing about a `meeting' of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Rome.
The Turkish Minister entered a bus transporting high ranking officials
participating in the events and greeted all of them, including the
Armenian leader, a reliable source told Armenian News-NEWS.am. His
politeness provoked rumors about alleged meeting.
However, Turkish and Azerbaijani press rushed to inform of a meeting.
In particular, Azerbaijani APA news agency referring to the Turkish
Hurriyet newspaper reported Davutoglu had a short conversation with
the Armenian President and long meeting with Azerbaijani leader Ilham
Aliyev. During the meeting with Aliyev, the officials had an in-depth
discussion on the Karabakh issue, the agency says.
Representatives of 73 world states gathered in Rome on Thursday to
attend solemn events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Italy's
unification.
