PanARMENIAN.Net - President of the Armenian National Academy of
Sciences Radik Martirosyan said Armenia can be ranked among those
countries, which do not allocate sufficient funds to the field of
science.
Only 0.24% of the country's GDP are allocated for the development of
science, Martirosyan told a sitting of the Committee for Science,
Education, Culture and Youth Affairs at the Public Council.
`The state will provide $24mln for the field of science in 2011,'
Martirosyan said, adding that 117 institutions, including 33 at the RA
NAS, are financed by these funds. According to him, 75% of the
allocated sum will be directed for payment of salaries, while the rest
25% - for the development of infrastructure and research complex.
`Meanwhile, the funds for payment of salaries and researches should be
allocated equally,' concluded Martirosyan.
