The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has no plans to negotiate
with the opposition over snap elections, says a top Republican
parliamentarian.
At a news conference on Monday, Galust Sahakyan, the leader of the RPA
faction in parliament, said the opposition alliance Armenian National
Congress holds on to early elections in an attempt to attract the
society to its side.
"They think early election is something to be discussed by the ANC and
the authorities, while others are not being taken into consideration.
In this way Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage are becoming secondary forces,"
he said, adding that all the forces on the political arena should be
given a chance to debate and consider issues on a peer-to-peer basis.
Sahakyan further stressed the importance of discussing strategic
issues.
"We are ready. But we don't have time to focus on one problem only,"
he said.
The politicians said they are ready any format of debate (round tables,
discussions) except for delegations.
