ARMENIAN MINISTRY OF CULTURE WILL OFFICIALLY INVITE GABRIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ TO ARMENIA

Armenian Minister of Culture is intended to invite Colombian novelist,
short-story writer and journalist, one of the most significant authors
of the 20th century Gabriel Garcia Marquez to Armenia, spokesperson
of the ministry told Panorama.am.
"The ministry has discussed the proposal of the initiative group called
"Let's invite Marquez to Armenia" and we prepare a letter addressed
to the writer," Gayane Durgaryan said.
An initiative group is created in Facebook social network which aims
to invite great writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez to Armenia. The group
has applied to Hasmik Pogosyan, Minister of Culture of Armenia with
an official letter for the invitation, which reads.
"Respected Minister, we are informed that UNESCO has granted Yerevan
as Book Capital in 2012. In this respect we'd like Armenia to host
world-known Columbian writer, Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garcia
Marquez. The initiative group has more than 2500 members. Now we apply
to You and ask You to send an official invitation to Garcia Marquez."
