Turkish opposition party leader made another intriguing comment
June 17, 2011 | 14:42
Leader of Turkish largest opposition Republican People's Party Kemal
Kilicdaroglu announced that he is not Sunni Muslim.
In his conversation with Turkish Haberturk, Kilicdaroglu discussed the
post-election atmosphere, reflecting also on his religious
affiliation.
`I always denied ethnic identity or creed based policy. I am Alevi.
Tell me, when being an Alevi turned into crime in this country. The
authorities are negotiating with Ocalan. Why oppose it if it is done
for the sake of our country.
Note that a month ago, during his talk with Turkish Milliyet, Kemal
Kilicdaroglu said that maybe his mother is Armenian.
`Investigation into the ethnic background of my family contradicts to
human rights principles. Perhaps my mother is Armenian,' went
Kilicdaroglu's comment.
