Reforms of the Council of Europe are corner stone of Armenia's state
building and the republic is committed to the implementation of
these reforms, Armenian President Serzh Sagsyan told press conference
in Strasbourg.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Secretary General of
the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Yagland, he stressed importance of
Armenia's membership in the CoE, noting that the country is actively
involved in democratic processes and fight against corruption in the
context of human rights protection.
President said that during his visit to Strasbourg he is going to
visit the European Court of Human Rights.
He pointed out protection of human rights, judicial reforms and reforms
in the law enforcement agencies, Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent
reports from Strasbourg.
"We appreciate the contribution of the Council of Europe to the
implementation of these reforms," said Sargsyan adding he had informed
the CoE Secretary General of domestic political processes, including
the steps aimed at reviving the political field.
"I am confident that we will register progress in the implementation
of these reforms in the future," he concluded.
