Expert of Brussels-based European Policy Centre Amada Paul does not
expect considerable breakthrough from the Kazan meeting of Armenian
and Azerbaijani leaders.
According to her, however, the lack of progress after the Kazan
meeting "would be undesirable" as that will seriously affect the
entire peace process.
"It will become a negative signal indicating lack of political will
necessary to advance the process," Paul told in an interview with
1news.az. "After many years of discussions and debates on basic
principles it is high time to move to the next stage."
If it does not happen, there is even no hint that anything may
change at all and it is better to return to the initial point as the
basic principles cannot be discussed forever, she added. The expert
noted that the more time passes, the harder it is to find a solution
"as the gap between the parties increases, it becomes irresistible,
thus making war a possible scenario."
"War will be disastrous for the entire region," Amanda Paul stressed
at the same time.
