Once more Azerbaijan resorted to provocative actions by violating the
ceasefire accord along the Line of Contact ahead of the trilateral
meeting of the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian meeting in Sochi,
Armenia's Foreign Ministry said.
`Today Azerbaijan took the next-in-turn provocative action on the Line
of Contact by killing a [Karabakhi] Defense Army soldier with a sniper
shot,' Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tigran Balayan said in a
statement issued late on Friday.
The incident took place in the vicinity of the Upper Chailu settlement
at 2:30 pm on Friday. The conscript killed was identified as Grigor
Aram Shakhkanyan, born in 1991.
It came ahead of the trilateral meeting of the Armenian, Azerbaijani
and Russian presidents in Sochi on March 5.
` ... Instead of agreeing to the continuous calls by the OSCE Minsk
Group co-chairs to withdraw the snipers from the Line of Contact and
implementing them Azerbaijan is resorting to the usual provocation,
trying to bring tension into the atmosphere before the presidential
meeting to take place in Sochi,' Balayan said in the statement.
He also said that Azerbaijan's conduct should receive due response by
the international community.
