Prosecutor General's Office rejects motion to dismiss charges against former MP

    17:38 - 04.03.11

The Prosecutor General's Office has rejected a motion to dismiss the
criminal charges against former MP Khachatur Sukiasyan who backed the
    opposition in 2008.

Sukiasyan's lawyers Ara Zakaryan and Arthur Grigoryan earlier
requested that the prosecutor general drop the charges against their
client for the lack of evidence.

They have released a statement saying that the February 12, 2011
decision to reject the appeal contains a wrong date (August 27, 2008).

"We consider the prosecutor's decision illegal and groundless and will
appeal it in the court in a due manner," runs the statement.
The lawyers state the decision contains no justification or proof for
    holding Sukiasyan criminally liable.
