Baku stops at nothing in its attempt to discredit Armenia. According
to Azeri media reports, during a telephone conversation with his
Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar
Mammadyarov expressed "dissatisfaction over the death of a 9-year-old
boy, who was killed by Armenian soldiers."
All the heads of Azerbaijani diplomatic missions abroad will keep
the authorities of respective counties informed about the incident,
Mammadyarov told a news conference.
However, despite rapid circulation of reports, Azeri media was having a
hard time to agree on details concerning the "killed" boy. Some sources
mention an 8- year-old, others indicate a resident of the Orta-Karvend
settlement Farid Badalov aged 10, some media mention a teenager.
The statement by the Azerbaijani Defense Minister is a mere attempt to
save the face of his country, by accusing Armenian armed forces in the
death of an 8-year-old boy, Armenian Foreign Minister's spokesman said.
"Azerbaijan has already put itself in a difficult position, having
shot an Armenian soldier dead on the eve of the presidential meeting
in Sochi," David Karapetyan stressed. "The authors of the Azeri
misinformation must understand that cheap tricks of the sort will not
persuade the international community. They must be ashamed of using
the life of a child in an attempt to spread lies."
Earlier, NKR Defense Army refuted the Azerbaijani media reports about
an Azerbaijani boy allegedly killed by the Armenian armed forces.
The Ministry's press service of the stated that the Nagorno Karabakh
units maintained the ceasefire both on March 8 and previous days,
proving reports to be another misinformation of the Azerbaijani
propaganda machine.
