Iran embassy in Armenia disapproves of US envoy's remarks
Yerevan, 24 March: The Iranian embassy [in Armenia] made a statement
today, criticizing the "irresponsible statements" made by US
Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch yesterday [23 March].
Mediamax cited the Iranian embassy's statement as reading that Iran
"has constantly stated its readiness to start a dialogue on the basis
of mutual trust and the recognition of its inalienable right for
peaceful use of nuclear energy, and in accordance with this guideline
has participated in a number of negotiations with representatives of
5+1 group [China, France, Russia, USA, UK, plus Germany]".
"As our authorities have repeatedly stated, the dialogue will be
successful only in case if, by demonstrating goodwill, the negotiators
aim at solving real tasks and solving the existing discords, avoiding
any psychological war or pressure, since the people and the government
of Iran have proved over the past 32 years that they are not ready to
renounce their inalienable rights under pressure", the document read.
"It would be more expedient if Mrs Ambassador [Yovanovitch], instead
of avoiding responsibility in order to convince the society, was
responsible for the double standards of the USA in the region, and in
particular in occupied Palestine, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq and
Libya", the statement read.
