The authorities of Armenia are going to lay the responsibility for the
tragic post-election incidents in Yerevan in March 2008 on Hovhanness
Tamamyan, ex-head of the Chief Information Department for Criminal
Investigation, Armenian Police.
Referring to its own sources, Yerevan-based Haykakan Zhamanak Daily
writes that the country's leadership want to throw dust into the
eyes of PACE demonstrating readiness to punished those responsible
for the death of 10 people on March 1-2 2008.
In exchange for that Tamamyan is promised 2 years in prison. The
parliamentarian from the Republican Party, Levon Sargsyan, and the
Head of the Yerevan Police Office, Nersik Nazaryan, have already
given testimonies on the given case. It is noteworthy that the State
Revenue Committee of Armenia has launched large-scale inspections
of the chain of supermarkets "Moskvichka" which according to certain
rumors belongs to Nazaryan. Ex-head of the Arabkir Community Police
Office Varuzhan Adamyan was interrogated as well.
Earlier on Feb 26 2011 Head of the Armenian Police Alik Sargsyan
dismissed Major General Hovhanness Tamamyan from the post of Head of
the Chief Department of Criminal Investigation. Tamamyan is accused
of intentional distortion of the circumstances in the investigation
in the murder of the relative of Hovhanness Shahinyan, Advisor to NA
Chairman. On March 24 the Center and Nork-Marash Community Court
sanctioned the arrest of H. Tamamyan for a period of two months on
