Military psychologist David Jamalyan said the military balance between
Armenia and Azerbaijan remains unchanged.
"A successful blitzkrieg is possible only if one of the parties
possesses a military superiority. Today Azerbaijan lacks such
superiority over Armenia," Jamalyan told a press conference in Yerevan.
"On the contrary, Armenia has a considerable superiority in some
weapons, specifically in the air defense system," he said.
Thus, according to Jamalyan, provocations at the line of contact
will continue, but the possibility of resumption of hostilities has
significantly lessened.
Head of the political studies department at the Caucasus Institute,
political analyst Sergey Minasyan said for his part that Azerbaijan is
well aware of the high price it will have to pay for a new war. "The
balance of military forces has not changed. But the Armenian armed
forces exceed those of Azerbaijan from the qualitative perspective,"
Minasyan stated.
