DURABLE GROWTH IN PRICES OF PETROLEUM AND DIESEL FUEL INCREASES NONFOOD ITEMS PRICES IN ARMENIA BY 0.5%

In April 2011 the prices of nonfood items in Armenia grew by 0.5% as
compared with March 2011 (2.8% annual growth), in Jan-Apr - by 1.5%
(3.3% annual growth). The National Statistical Service of Armenia
told ArmInfo that the price growth in April is mostly conditioned
by 3.9% and 5.8% growth in the prices of petroleum and diesel fuel
respectively. In April 2011 versus April 2010 petroleum and diesel
fuel grew in price by 8.8% and 17.7% respectively, and in Jan-Apr
2011 - by 15.1% and 19.9% respectively.
At the same time, in April 2011 horticultural sundries grew in price by
0.1%, electric appliances - by 0.2%, stationery - by 0.2%, furniture -
by 0.5%, kitchen implements - by 0.5%, clothes and knitted articles -
by 0.7%, jewelry - by 1.6%, footwear - by 3.4%. In the meanwhile,
carpets fell in price by 3.3%, works of art - by 2.9%, cosmetics
- by 1.4%, textile - by 1%, detergents - by 0.7%, fuel - by 0.5%,
construction materials - by 0.4%, medicaments - by 0.2%, private goods
- by 0.2%. In all the towns under review nonfood items rose in price
by 0.1-1.7%, in Yerevan - by 0.6%.
In April 2011 0.2% inflation was fixed in the consumer market of
Armenia (8.9% inflation as compared with April 2010), in Jan-Apr 2011
5% inflation was fixed (10.5% inflation as compared with Jan-Apr 2010).
