Armenia has to intensify activities in relevant international
organizations to draw attention to Turkey's demolition of non-Turkic
cultural heritage, a Turkish Studies expert stated.
At news conference in Yerevan, Ruben Melkonyan cited as an example
Turkey's transforming a Kars-based Armenian church into a mosque, as
well as a failure to point out Armenian origin of cultural monuments
in Western Armenia.
As the expert stressed, Turkey has similar attitude to all non-Muslim
artifacts, specifically Assyrian and Greek ones. According to
him, Turkey is using the other nations' cultural heritage and
tourist attractions to gain its ends, setting monuments, allegedly
commemorating "victims of Turkish genocide perpetrated by Armenians"
right next to them.
