AZNAVOUR: ANY STATE REFUSING TO CONDEMN GENOCIDE COMMITS A CRIME

It took 5 years for French Senate to start discussion on the bill
envisaging criminalizing of denial of the Armenian Genocide adopted
by the National Assembly in 2006, world known singer, Armenia's
ambassador to Switzerland wrote in an opinion in Liberation newspaper.

"During these five years, Armenian Genocide monuments were desecrated,
hatred continued spreading. Today's inaction provokes further crimes.

Any state refusing to condemn the Genocide commits a crime itself,"
he wrote. "I call on Senators to pass the bill penalizing denial of
the Armenian Genocide. Nobody could stop the Ottoman Empire when it
planned to exterminate the entire nation. If adopted, this bill can
prevent repetition of such crimes in the future."
