    AZERBAIJANI LEADER HOPES ARMENIA TO START WITHDRAWING FROM OCCUPIED TERRITORIES

    Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The matter of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno
    Garabagh conflict was the basis of Baku negotiations held yesterday
    between presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Dalia Grybauskaite
    of Lithuania.

    According to President Aliyev's statement, he informed Grybauskaite
    about the current status of negotiations and the issues being
    discussed.

    "We hope that by demonstrating a constructive approach to the OSCE
    Minsk Group's proposals, Armenia will make a step forward and begin
    to leave the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. After that, peace
    can be established in the region. The conflict between Armenia and
    Azerbaijan is a major threat to regional security and stability. Faster
    settlement of this conflict on the basis of international law is in
    interests of all parties," President Aliyev said.

    This year Lithuania is chairing in the OSCE.

    Besides, in the course of talks both presidents discussed cooperation
    in transport and energy security. The Azerbaijani head claimed of
    good opportunities in the transport sector. He also announced the
    results of Europe-Azerbaijan energy security collaboration on the
    basis of mutual benefit in the coming years.

    His Lithuanian counterpart voiced her country's readiness to implement
    some projects in the field of education.
