    LITHUANIA SPEAKS UNAMBIGUOUSLY FOR PEACEFUL RESOLUTION OF KARABAKH CONFLICT-PRESIDENT

    "Lithuania unambiguously speaks for a peaceful resolution of the
    Karabakh conflict," Dalia Grybauskaite said at the meeting with
    Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev in Baku on May 2.

    "Such conflicts run into heavy losses for any country. They have
    an extremely negative impact on spiritual values, relations and
    economics. It is very hard to away these difficulties. For this reason,
    patience, an open approach and certainly peace-loving attitude is
    needed to resolve the conflict," she noted.

    According to her, Europe and the whole world seek a peaceful settlement
    of conflicts. "Lithuania is ready to render all possible assistance as
    a member of the OSCE and the European Union and in bilateral format,
    Azerbaijani mass media quotes Grybauskaite.

    President of Lithuania arrived in Azerbaijan on May 2. She held
    meetings with Azerbaijani leadership in Baku.

    She will leave for an official visit to Georgia on May 3. During
    her visit she will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili,
    representatives of executive and legislative branches.

    Later, Grybauskaite will arrive in Yerevan.
