International nuclear experts to monitor security of Armenian NPP

YEREVAN. - Operational Safety Review Team (OSART) will visit Armenia
on May 16 to monitor security of the Armenian NPP.
OSART is operating under the auspices of International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA).
Working group will include nuclear security experts from nine
countries, Armenian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources informed
Armenian News-NEWS.am.
`Presently security of Metsamor NPP is at a high level which is
confirmed by results of regular monitoring conducted by other
international commissions. There are no threats to NPP's security,'
reads the statement.
Last month Ashot Martirosyan, Head of the Nuclear Safety Committee,
Government of Armenia, said that after the Fukushima nuclear
accidents, EU member-states have been offered to conduct serious
safety tests at their NPPs.
In his earlier interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Armenian Minister
of Energy Armen Movsisyan said that Armenia would not stop using
nuclear energy even after the Japan disaster.
