"No one came up against Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Those who disagreed with
him, simply went away. This is a right decision as Levon Ter-Petrosyan
continues to remain the most serious political figure in the Armenian
National Congress (HAK)," says the leader of New Times Party (NZhK).
"Levon Ter-Petrosyan has visited all his jailed teammates. He never
forgets about his friends and supporters. He also visited me in
prison. Many would not like to hear this but I must say that Levon
Ter-Petrosyan will become the guarantee for the release of the
political prisoners," said Aram Karapetyan.
The NZhK believes that the authorities will free all political
prisoners by May 31 with the exception of Sargis Hatspanyan and Murad
Bojolyan, who, according to Karapetyan, have problems with the
authorities.
Aram Karapetyan anticipates interesting developments in the country
after the release of the political prisoners. The authorities and the
opposition will start a political dialogue.
"But it is useless to expect early elections as the authorities will
not agree to that demand," he said adding that the authorities have
one more reserve step- the resignation of Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan.
