Social security service finds 3,000 pensioners' names invalid

    16:35 - 04.05.11

The Social Security Service has removed 3,000 pensioners' names from
the databases, the head of the service has said.

Artem Asatryan made the statement at a news conference on Monday, as
he addressed the current pension reforms in Armenia.

"Those people's data were not identified," he said, adding that around
    37,000 names still need clarification.

"Inaccurate information is due the differences of the data exchanged.
Clarification procedures require information about an individual. What
we have on documents is to be reflected in the databases and the
missing information is to be submitted by the citizens," he added.

Beginning May, pensions will be paid on the first day of each month.

Asatryan further spoke of the Control Chamber's recent inspections at
    the Social Security Service.

"Each body is exercising it functions. Our task is to have integrated
social services and a centralized database that will communicate with
other information bases to compare the data online."

Inspections by the Control Chamber earlier this year had reveled
serious violations in the pension payment system. Particularly, the
pensioners list included the names of deceased individuals and people
not currently residing in the country.
