The press service of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry continues
disseminating information that allegedly the Karabakh side regularly
violates ceasefire at different parts of the line of contact between
the NKR and Azerbaijani armed forces. Due to it, the NKR Defense Army
decided to refer to the matter.
According to the press service of the NKR Defense Army, it is true
that cases of ceasefire violation have increased recently at the line
of contact. "However, it should be clarified which side initiates
these cases and what kind of measures are taken," reads the statement.
According to data of the NKR Defense Army, Azerbaijan violated
ceasefire for 950 times in April 2011, firing 6,500 shots from various
caliber weapons. It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani armed forces
used sniper's weapons, such as SVD, Black Arrow and ISTIGAL rifles
produced by Turkey. "It is not a secret that along with its own forces
Azerbaijan uses foreign snipers at the frontline for a good payment,"
reads the statement of the NKR Defense Army.
Baku's similar behavior proves that Azerbaijan both violates the
agreements reached as part of negotiations for the Karabakh conflict
regulation and cynically disseminates false information.
As for the situation established in the Azerbaijani armed forces, the
NKR Defense Army noted that 17 Azerbaijani servicemen were killed
during the first four months of 2011.
"The Azerbaijani army violated ceasefire for over 3,200 times in
January-April 2011, killing 5 NKR servicemen and wounding another
four. However, according to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, 150
cases of ceasefire violation by the Armenian side were reported during
the same period. The same source states that 40% of 51 killed and 29
wounded soldiers in the Azerbaijani army are ascribed to cases of
ceasefire violation. Judging from the enemy's data, the cases of
ceasefire violation by Azerbaijan were higher by 20 times compared to
those by Karabakh, while Azerbaijan suffered huger losses. It is
difficult to state how much it corresponds to the reality," reads the
statement of the NKR Defense Army.
