Armenians can quickly mobilize, says military expert
15:43 - 08.05.11
Armenians, if needed, are capable of quickly mobilizing to defend
their homeland, leaving the peaceful life and families aside, a
military expert has said.
Speaking to Tert.am, David Jamalyan expressed confidence that those
Armenians currently resentful over socio-economic hardships will
forget about it and take to the front line when necessary.
`The Armenians have psychological ties with the area where they live,
which they inherited from their grandfathers,' said he.
`I am more than sure that those who have complaints due to
socio-economic hardships, who are disappointed because they don't
receive relevant treatment, will go and fight in the first line, if
need be,' Jamalyan added.
Further, he dismissed allegations that 18-20-year-old conscripts are
less prepared to protect the borders of the country and neutralize any
potential threat.
`Due to my daily communication I have become convinced that now too
they are the best on the first line, during danger,' said Jamalyan.
David Jamalyan also said that he too receives desperate views that in
case of fresh military actions with Azerbaijan, the people will not
react the same way as during the Karabakh war.
`I consider that with big preservation. Based on my decades-long
experience of observations in military units I can say that today our
fighting spirit is high,' said Jamalyan.
He also said that those who participated in the Karabakh war need more
attention as they have what he called a `vulnerable self-esteem'.
