RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian visited today Yerevan State
University, where he met the university's students and staff of
lecturers and professors.
An official from the press, information and PR department of the RA
Foreign Affairs Ministry told Armenpress that the meeting was held
upon the initiative by YSU Students' Council within the framework of
the 20th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia.
In his speech Minister Nalbandian said: "Dear young people, maybe
you are often told that you are the future of the country. This is a
simple truth, and the bright proof of this is that the graduates of
this university are the first students and graduates of the Foreign
Ministry's newly-established diplomatic school and some of them have
already assumed diplomatic service," the minister said.
He noted that the students are approximately of the same age as the
newly-independent state of Armenia, the 20th anniversary of which will
be completed this year. "Its concerns and successes, difficulties
and victories have made a part of your daily life. I wish you all
the success: your success will be the success of our country," the
minister said.
Edward Nalbandian added that he emphasizes such meetings, which have
become a tradition, as they give an opportunity to not only present
Armenia's foreign policy, but also get acquainted with the viewpoints
of students.
The minister detailed on the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy,
the relations with various states, the steps towards the extension of
the relations, Armenia's stances on processes of the international
arena, as well as the works for the protection of the interests of
Armenia and its citizens abroad. Minister Edward Nalbandyan also
touched upon the process of regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue
and answered questions by students.
