"The information about migration of the Hamshen Armenians from
Kirghizia to Karabakh is a result of mass media absurdity", - the
head of investigation center for problems of western Armenians,
Haykazun Alvrtsyan, said at today's press-conference in Yerevan.
"Actually, one of the representatives of the Hamshen Armenians
community has recently visited Karabakh and decided to offer such an
idea...But there is no official information or decision on the matter",
- he said.
The editor-in-chief of "Golos Hamsheni", Sergey Vardanyan, added for
his part, that such migration is a complex political issue. He called
on mass media to be more careful when disseminating such information.
"Azerbaijan is striving to use any opportunity for imposing pressure
upon Armenia. For this reason, we should be more careful when making
statements", - Vardanyan said.
He also touched on the problems of the Hamshen Armenians in general
and pointed at the necessity of their assistance by the Armenian
authorities.
To recall, 200 families of Hamshen Armenians have been living at
the territory of Kirghizia. Armenian mass media informed about their
migration to Karabakh on 6 May.
To note, the Hamshen Armenians are the Armenians, which were living at
Hamshen region of Turkey. They speak their own dialect. They started
migrating from Turkey to Georgia and Abkhazia at the beginning of
the 20th century.
