Department on the protection of state interests of General Prosecutor's
Office of Armenia instituted a criminal case on the fact of violations
in the sphere of social insurance for spending and abuse of power.

Studying the materials of the results of checks in the State Service of
Social Security, the Department detected that high officials occupying
organizational-managerial positions in the period of 2009-2010 received
large amounts of 113 million 181.9 thousand drams from state budget
and pocketed them, thus causing significant damage to the state.

General Prosecutor's Office concluded that a group of high officials
due to their personal profit or group interests, used their positions
contrary to the interests of service, as well as did not perform their
duties, including obvious forged records in the official documents
and assigning double pensions on the basis of false documents using
    the names of dead people.

By the decision of the head of department on protection of state
interests A.Nikoghosyan a criminal case was instituted by clause 1,
part 3, article 179 of criminal code (Pocketing or spending), part 2,
article 308 of criminal code (Abuse of power) and part 1, article 314
    (Service forgery).

Control Chamber of Armenia detected violations in the result of checks
in the sphere of pension and benefit payments and reported to the
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. In its result, on December 17,
2010 Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan dismissed the head of State Service
of Social Security Vazgen Khachikyan from his occupied position.
