Pontifical Visit to the State of Kuwait
HIS HOLINESS ARAM I ARRIVES IN KUWAIT
On Monday 16 May 2011, upon his arrival in Kuwait, His Holiness Aram I was
met by the Pontifical Vicar for the Gulf Region Bishop Shahé Panossian, the
Ambassador of Lebanon in the State of Kuwait Bassam Ab Noumani, the
Ambassador of Armenia in Kuwait Fadey Charchoghlian, as well as the
representatives of the Armenian community in Kuwait.
After arriving at his hotel, His Holiness Aram I had a working lunch with
the members of the Church Council. In the afternoon the Catholicos received
the leaders of Christian communities in the State who had come to greet him.
After thanking them for their visit, and appreciating the cooperation among
them, the Catholicos emphasized the importance of local Christian-Muslim
dialogue. Knowing that His Holiness will meet State officials, the
representatives asked the Catholicos to raise the question of owning land to
build churches.
At the end of the day, Catholicos Aram I met with the governing bodies of
the Armenian community.
