Armenian Culture Shines During the ARS 10th Festival

In its 10th straight year, the ARS Annual Armenian Cultural & Food Festival
brought together crowds from near and far to the Glendale Civic Auditorium
    on April 30 and May 1, 2011.

From the moment doors opened to the public until the festival's closing,
attractions for people of all ages to enjoy entertained guests, occupying
both levels of the venue. The lower level offered an intriguing line-up of
cultural exhibits, which took onlookers back in time and featured old-world
displays of artwork, traditional garb of regions such as Kharpert, Lori,
Drabizon, and more, as well as a "lavash"-making demonstration. Armenian
compatriotic unions, such as the Union of New Julfa, presented traditional
pieces dating back decades. Even meeting the needs of eager, young children,
a section was solely dedicated to children's games and activities.

The upper level, filled with appetizing aromas, was the scene where
renowned Armenian singers, including Harout Pamboukjian and Gagik Badalyan,
as well as many folk dance groups, took to the stage with back-to-back
performances. A main attraction, the re-creation of a traditional Armenian
wedding, was a hit similar to years past, whereby a group of 30 people
dressed in authentic costumes accompany the bride and groom into the hall
    while lively Armenian music plays.

    Chamlian Students Donate to

    ARS Japan Relief Fund

Responding to the ARS' call to action to raise funds for humanitarian relief
efforts to help disaster-struck Japan, Chamlian Armenian School students
presented their donation, which totaled $2,440, for the ARS Japan Relief
    Fund.

Regional Executive Board Treasurer Kristine Keshishian and General Manager
Jasik Jarahian visited Chamlian on May 4, 2011, accepting the donation and
acknowledging the important work carried out by students and parents in
    collectively raising funds.

    Get Your "Womentum" with the

    ARS "Maro" Chapter!

This year's 2011 Revlon Run/Walk, held on May 7th, was again represented by
the ARS "Maro" Chapter and its supporters. Each year, the chapter gathers
at least 25 runners/walkers to join their team and raise funds for cancer
    research.

This year was no different - young, old, male and female were ready to race
against these diseases. The team raised nearly $3,000 towards women's
cancers research. The event is life changing - one of the most moving and
emotional events, walking side by side survivors and those that have lost
loved ones through this awful disease. The chapter is fortunate to have
cancer survivors with them and they show support for them and women all
    across the nation.

accomplishments of the committee during the past decade to help Javakhk
    Armenians.

Rose Baghdikian, Chairperson of the ARS "Shoushi" Chapter, presented a
check to Ungh. Bozoyan on behalf of Las Vegas community organizations who
collectively donated $500 to the Javakhk Fund. Members of the audience also
    made donations.

    Cooking with Zov and Maro!

On April 8, 2011, the ARS "Maro" Chapter held a very successful cooking

    most tasteful event.

Zov prepared a scrumptious salmon and mushroom risotto from her new
cookbook. The chapter is proud of their Chef and thankful for her time,
effort, and donation. It was a night remembered by all!
