    HOVIK ABRAHAMYAN VISITS KAREN DEMIRCHYAN MUSEUM

    On the International Museum Day on May 18 RA National Assembly
    Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan visited the national, state and political
    great figure, RA National Hero Karen Demirchyan Museum.

    It was founded by resolution of 9 January 2001 of the Armenian
    Government for eternalizing his memory, his life and activity. The
    museum has rich documentary material: documents, photos, video films,
    contemporaries' memoirs, personal items, governmental awards, numerous
    souvenirs, works of art, received from the friends, colleagues,
    people, heads and political figures of other states, medals of
    Olympic champions given as presents to Karen Demirchyan, etc. Karen
    Demirchyan's personal archive is kept in the fund of the Museum.

    NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan took a guided tour in the Museum, and got
    acquainted with the exposed materials, which were presented to him
    by Karen Demirchyan Relief Fund Director Rima Demirchyan and Museum
    Director Vahagn Mamyan.

    Hovik Abrahamyan expressed wish also to have materials and exhibits
    from the museum referring to Karen Demirchyan in the museum being
    created in the National Assembly. The NA Speaker left a note in the
    Commemoration Book of the Museum.

    In the talk with the reporters Hovik Abrahamyan noted that the state,
    political figure Karen Demirchyan had proved his patriotism with
    building the Motherlnad. "He has big contribution in the establishment
    of our state, statehood, has left a lot of work to our people," the NA
    Speaker said with gratitude, noting that with his visit to the museum
    he wished once again to pay his tribute to Karen Demirchyan's memory.
