Armenia's readiness to compromises pledge of successful "sale of
    pipes" by OSCE MG mediators

Armenia's readiness to compromises is a pledge of successful "sale of
pipes" by the mediators of the OSCE Minsk Group on resolution of the
Karabakh conflict, because this is what they are inherently engaged
    in.

Deputy Head of the Noravank Research and Education Foundation Center
for Political Studies, military expert Sergey Sargsyan made such
statement at a seminar entitled "Nagorny Karabakh Conflict: Scenarios
of Military and Political Confrontation" at Noravank Fund, Thursday.

"For mediators now and ever it is most important to sell pipes. They
do not even care if it is a gas or oil pipe or if it operates or not.
It is important that these mains are not subjected to destruction or a
threat of destruction. In this light, it is important for any mediator
mission to achieve a compromise by the parties to the conflict or at
least readiness to a compromise. Azerbaijan has always had an
aggressive and uncompromising stance. In this light, at least before
2009 the Armenian party had expressed readiness to these concessions,
at least, verbally. Therefore, the efforts of the mediator mission
were addressed first of all to the Armenian party to the conflict. It
was inherently not important for the mediators which of the parties
would make a concession and which wouldn't," he said.

Nevertheless, the expert said, the situation has changed now because
the Armenian parties to the conflict have exhausted the limit of the
supposed concessions and reached the red line. "In this light, today
theoretically and practically the supposed resolution of the conflict
can be just peaceful, or through resumption of military actions by
Azerbaijan. An interim agreement is not ruled out either in case of a
strong pressure on Armenia and Azerbaijan by the mediator-countries.
Anyway, the key mission of the mediators are pipes and not the
resolution of the conflict," Sargsyan said.

The OSCE MG represented by the co-chairs of Russia, U.S. and France
has been engaged in resolution of the Karabakh conflict since 1992.
