Azerbaijan ignored and rejected the recent call by the leaders of
the Minsk Group co-chair states to agree to the last version of the
Madrid Principles over the Karabakh conflict, spokesperson for the
Republican Party of Armenia has said.
Eduard Sharmazanov said that it's already a year since Armenia gave
its assent to the proposals of the co-chairs of the Organization
for Security and Cooperation in Europe co-chairs, while Azerbaijan
is making attempts to evade and with that to lead the talks' process
to a deadlock.
"In fact, Azerbaijan rejected and ignored the call by the leaders
of the co-chair countries in Deauville yesterday to agree to the
last version of the Madrid proposals currently on the negotiations'
table," said he.
It comes after Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement in
response to the Deauville statement in which it said Baku's "position
is unchanged and withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces and return of
IDPs (internally displace people) will create an opportunity to make
the next step towards the creation of useful conditions in the region".
Another goal Baku pursues with its current stance, Sharmazanov
explained, is an attempt to fail a meeting of the co-chairs scheduled
in Kazan, Russia.
"I think both the mediators and the international community will draw
relevant conclusions over Azerbaijan's such unresponsible conduct,"
Eduard Sharmazanov added.
