AZERBAIJAN PLEASED WITH STATEMENT OF U.S., FRENCH AND RUSSIAN LEADERS ON KARABAKH

Novruz Mammadov, the head of the international relations department
at the Azerbaijani President's Administration, said Azerbaijan hails
and supports the joint statement adopted in Deauville by the U.S.,
Russian and French Presidents.
"Concerns expressed by Obama, Medvedev and Sarkozy with respect to the
unresolved Karabakh conflict are quite explainable. The Presidents
stressed the necessity of soonest settlement of the conflict, with
what we are pleased," Mammadov said.
According to him, the world community's stance indicates that
the status-quo cannot be maintained and its change is important,
