DEAUVILLE STATEMENT IS NO PROGRESS - ACTIVIST

The joint statement by the Minsk Group co-chairing countries' leaders
does not imply progress in the Karabakh conflict settlement process,
says the coordinator of Sardarapat movement, Zhirayr Sefilyan.
"I don't think there will be any progress in the Nagorno Karabakh
settlement process," he told Tert.am.
A former commander of a special battalion in Shoushi, Sefilyan noted
that the current tension in the Middle East poses serious threats to
the region as well.
"If we use our brains we'd prepare for a war to have peace," he said.
At the G8 summit in Deauville, France, the presidents of the OSCE Minsk
Group co-chairing countries - Barrack Obama (US), Niclolas Sarkozy
(France) and Dmitry Medvedev (Russia) - adopted a joint statement on
the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
They called on the countries involved in the process " to prepare
their populations for peace, not war".
