Member of Parliament Armen Martirosyan, Heritage Party, stated today
that we are facing a wide range of political problems at home. He
says we can see changes in the foreign policy and the internal issues,
including the election code, the amnesty and the foreign affairs.
Armen Martirosyan says the election code amended recently is not
legitimate and expresses solely the will and desires of the government
and does not reflect the requirements of the society. He says a
parliament election in accordance with this election code will not
express the moods of the society.
As to the amnesty, the member of parliament says the release of the
political prisoners is important to everyone. However, the amnesty is
not what the Heritage Party expected. According to him, the political
prisoners must have been released earlier, and generally they must not
have been arrested and convicted at all because the charges brought
against them were not proved.
~SIs this amnesty acquittal? Unfortunately, it~Rs not,~T Armen
Martirosyan says, noting that political prisoners are released along
with criminals.
As to the influence of the external factor on their release, Armen
Martirosyan says the issue of the political prisoners was in the center
of attention of the international organizations, and the government
found it difficult to find an antidote.
Armen Martirosyan says the government had another reason to release
the political prisoners. It is the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Armen Martirosyan says the elections will be falsified, and with
political prisoners the burden would be too heavy, therefore they
declared the amnesty to make it less heavy.
For the external situation, Armen Martirosyan says the Armenian and
Turkish normalization, the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh persist, and an
attempt is made to find solutions to them.
"In this context, I think, the so-called "dialogue" between the
Armenian National Congress and the authorities becomes highly logical
because both share an opinion on external problems," Armen Martirosyan
says.
Evidence to this is the cheering of dialogue and amnesty from outside.
Armen Martirosyan says they expect some progress regarding these
problems.
Armen Martirosyan says fortunately it will not be effective because
even if the society seems to be far from the Karabakh issue, this is a
sensitive point, and there will be a reaction once we come a bit closer
to the issue, and the reaction will be the way it has always been. And
the society, he says, fought for liberation and liberated Karabakh.
