Galust Sahakyan, the leader of the ruling Republican Party faction
in Armenia's National Assembly, does not rule out the possibility of
new reshufflings of senior officials.
"We have a big political team, so the role-players may change all
the time. But there will not be serious changes," he told reporters
on Tuesday.
Sahakyan, who is the vice president of the Republican Party, addressed
the president's recent move to dismiss the chief of Police, Alik
Sargsyan.
"We have been satisfied with Alik Sargsyan's work. So has the
president. But the authority to appoint or dismiss him is vested
with the president. As a decision was made to change role players,
it has to be implemented," he said, declining further to comment on
reports that Sargsyan is going to assume a new post.
Recent reports suggest that the former chief of the police is going
to be appointed minister of territorial administration or deputy head
of the presidential staff.
