"If they are concerned about the democratic processes, it has to do
with Armenia"
Baku - APA. "Focusing on the issues of democracy in the process of
solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict by some forces is only pretext.
All of these are ideas sounded to bear pressure upon Azerbaijan and
to prevent the country from its independent policy", vice speaker of
the Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova told yap.org.az.
Muradova said a limited group inside Azerbaijan, following own goals,
was trying to use such ideas. This is very harmful and betraying
position against Azerbaijan, vice speaker said. She noted that the
conflict was caused by the Armenia's military aggression against our
country. This aggression caused huge damage on Azerbaijan and the fact
of occupation impedes the development of our country, Muradova said.
"As a result of occupation of our lands by Armenia, a large
territory became unsettled. The infrastructure was destroyed and
the people were deprived of the right to live in their homeland. The
occupation of territories prevents our country to achieve more rapid
socio-economic development. This factor has serious impact on the
democratic development as well. Therefore those, who focus attention
on the factor of democracy in the settlement of the conflict, have
to assess the reality correctly".
Muradova said if they were concerned about the democratic processes,
it had to do with Armenia, because shooting at the parliament, killing
of peaceful people during the protest actions took place in this
country. "We have witnessed the steps taken against the participants
of protest actions in the European countries, in the USA recently.
They used water cannon, cavalry and dogs to crack down on the
protesters. It is wrong approach to use the factor of democracy
to play into the Armenians' hands and to sound such ideas for own
political ambitions. Those, who sound such ideas, are the forces
against Azerbaijan. All legal states, within the law, take steps
against the illegal actions".
