YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Minister of Defence Seyran
Ohanyan received today newly-appointed US Ambassador to Armenia John
Heffern on the occasion of taking the office, and expressed confidence
the ambassador will use his experience in further development and
expansion of the Armenian-American relations, including in the sphere
of defence.
Press service of RA Ministry of Defense told Armenpress that Seyran
Ohanyan briefly presented to the ambassador the reforms implemented
in RA Armed Forces. Ambassador Heffern noted that the American
party highly assesses the support shown by RA Armed Forces during
peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Iraq. The Ambassador
added the process of the reforms implemented in the armed forces is
welcoming and the American party is ready to show relevant support
and develop relations with the Armenian party in bilateral format, as
well as within the frameworks of the UN, NATO and other international
structures.
During the meeting other issues of bilateral interest were discussed
as well.
