DEPUTY MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE SAYS PRIOR ISSUE IS UPGRADING OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING

The prior issue of the Ministry of Agriculture is periodical upgrading
of the agricultural engineering existing in the republic, deputy
minister of agriculture Vardan Karapetyan told a news conference
today, pointing out that with that aim grant and loan programs are
being implemented with the governments of Russia, Japan, India.
The staff of the ministry has recently met with the leadership of
"Rusagromash" company producing agricultural engineering, devices. The
latter offered 50 million USD loan and leasing program with which
Armenia will acquire agricultural engineering with 7 year term with 5%
interest rate.
The deputy minister said with the sums gathered from Japanese grant
as a result of which the imported agricultural engineering and devices
were given to cooperatives of the republic and companies dealing with
the agriculture through a conducted auction with a half price the
Ministry of Agriculture will again purchase agricultural engineering
giving it to the farmers.
"With it the agricultural engineering and devices will be upgraded,"
Karapetyan convinced, assuring that currently about 70% of Armenia's
964 communities are ensured with agricultural engineering.
"It is wrong to say that we lack the agricultural engineering. The
prior issue for us is their upgrading as they have been worn out," the
deputy minister said, informing that during the recent 10 years 1000
units of agricultural engineering and devices were brought to Armenia.
