ARF-D DENIES REPORT ON BANISHING LEBANESE-KURDS FROM ARMENIAN POPULATED AREAS

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D) in
Lebanon has sent a letter to the Lebanese news outlets, denying the
allegations that the party has launched an anti-Kurdish campaign
    across the country.

It comes after the Arab media published reports saying the ARF-D in
Lebanon urged the Kurdish population to quit certain districts of
    capital Beirut.

"Several outlets recently disinformed the public, saying that the
ARFD-Dashnaksutyun has launched a campaign to banish Kurds from
[the districts of] Purch Hamut, Tora and Napaa. The ARF-D office
wishes to make it clear that Purch Hamut has been and continues to
remain a district symbolizing the co-existence of absolutely all the
communities and churches in one geographic area".

The issue was to make re-arrangements in the district together with
the mayor of Hamut given that a great number of laborers professing
different religions have to live together, with 10-15 people sharing
a two-room apartment. The fact particularly troubles other people in
the same buildings. Besides, people rent the apartments illegally,
without proper a registration at the municipality. Many of them do
not have identification documents," the ARF-D representatives say.

The note further that the situation poses security threats to the
    population.

"Considering the demands of the district's population, as well as
Dashnaksutyun's initiative to ensure the safety, security and free
mobility of citizens in Purch Hamut, Tora and Nappaa the party is
proceeding to file an application to the mayor to put an end to this
strange and unlawful situation. There's no political, community,
religious or national consideration behind the move," reads the
    statement.
