Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan's "farewell interview" with Armnews was
more interesting than Mayor Karen Karapetyan's. If Karapetyan stated
to remain a "team member" despite his resignation, Hovik Abrahamyan
stated his resignation is a proof of loyalty to the President.
"With this step I proved my loyalty to the President of the country
and the Republican Party. I proved that what keeps me in the party
is not the office I hold," said Hovik Abrahamyan.
Who and why doubted Abrahamyan's loyalty for him to have to prove
it through resignation? Did Serzh Sargsyan doubt it, or did Hovik
Abrahamyan "bet" that he is loyal to Serzh Sargsyan and is ready to
do everything to prove it?
Does Hovik Abrahamyan's statement on his need to prove his loyalty
mean Serzh Sargsyan has revealed Kocharyan's "conspiracy" involving
Hovik Abrahamyan for which reason several officials have been sacked?
Why is it necessary to prove if , asHovik Abrahamyan states, the reason
is to head the election staff? Moreover, Hovik Abrahamyan stated
that he will now occupy a more important office as the head of the
Republican election staff than the current position of the NA Speaker.
Consequently, Abrahamyan did not sacrifice anything but just preferred
a higher office. Only sacrifice can be a proof of loyalty. Hence,
Abrahamyan either lies or is totally sincere and is just trying to
keep his businesses intact. After all, no doubt, Armenian officials
are not clung to their offices at all. They just understand that their
office is a guarantee to their business ensuring certain privileges.
If they have no power and office, they may lose their businesses
as well.
This is the reason why unlike the "farewell interview" of Karen
Karapetyan, for whom Serzh Sargsyan found a job in Gazprom, Hovik
Abrahamyan's "farewell interview" reminded a "farewell prayer" to
Serzh Sargsyan rather.
