AZERBAIJANI FM: YEREVAN TRIES TO PROVE SITUATION IN ARMENIAN ARMY BETTER THAN IT IS

Armenia seeks justification in an effort to prove that the situation
in the Armenian Army is better than it is, Elman Abdullayev, the
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, told Trend on
Wednesday. He was commenting on statements of the Armenian Defense
Ministry's Information and Public Liaisons Department.
To all probability, Armenia was offended by Azerbaijani President
Ilham Aliyev's speech, which described the sad position of the Armenian
Army quite exactly, Abdullayev said.
"As the whole world could see, Azerbaijani President was right, and
such a nervous reaction from Armenia illustrates that they again try
to mislead both their own nation and the international community,"
Abdullayev added.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in his speech at a meeting of
the Cabinet of Ministers on October 24, said the parades staged in
Azerbaijan and Armenia lately had evidently illustrated who was who.
"I think the conduct of a military parade in Armenia was their great
mistake," the Azerbaijani president stated. "Before, they tried, as
always, to convince someone by myth or fantasies that the Armenian
Army is the most efficient one, but following the so-called 'military
parade' they had staged everyone understood in what sad situation
the Armenian Army is."
"Me, perhaps, you and the entire community for the first time saw that
the military hardware could not move by itself; it was demonstrated
at the parade carried by trucks and carriages," he underscored. "It
might have several reasons. Either this hardware is out of order,
stands idle or has no fuel or both reasons together. Most likely, both
factors played their role in that. The parade has illustrated once
again that Armenia is not an independent state but an outpost. While
rather high-ranking officials stated that earlier, what we saw at
the parade confirms once again that Armenia remains an outpost."
