The Russian Foreign Ministry reminds its citizens to remember
that the positions of Azerbaijan and Armenia on the mutual entry
of citizens onto their territories is seriously complicated by the
unresolved Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russian Foreign Ministry official
representative Alexander Lukashevich said at a weekly briefing.
He commented on the case of the Azerbaijani AZAL's refusal to register
an ethnic Armenian Russian citizen on its flight.
"We recommend Russian citizens to take this into account when planning
trips," he was quoted by Russia 24 TV channel as saying.
The case has caused great concern in the media. It even eclipsed more
important topics, he said.
He stressed that this case is regrettable.
Russian citizen Sergei Gyurdzhian was not allowed to fly to Baku in
late October.
Gyurdzhian was informed that guarantees for his safety are required
to visit Azerbaijan because he is an ethnic Armenian.
