"The war between Armenians and Azeris is not just a local conflict,
well taken advantage of from a political standpoint, but also a matter
controlled and manipulated by super-powers," reported Al Jazeera in
its television report on the South Caucasus as a hot conflict zone.
Baku has repeatedly stated that it is not satisfied with the work of
the [OSCE Minsk Group] co-chairs. Meanwhile, Russia risks losing its
position in the region, although [Russian President] Dmitry Medvedev
still entices [Azerbaijani President] Ilham Aliyev to fruitless
meetings and discussions. But the head of Azerbaijan, who inherited
political sense from his father, knows that these meetings won't
lead to anything and are just a waste of time. Perhaps, beginning in
2012, the US will take on the initiative, and the next meeting of the
presidents will be held upon the initiative of [US State Secretary]
Hillary Clinton and Turkish diplomat [and the country's foreign
minister Ahmet] Davutoglu. In case of that meeting fails, Baku will
seriously consider solving the conflict by force. It is known that
during his recent visit to Turkey, Aliyev discussed the matter with
[Turkish] Prime Minister [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan. 2012 will be a
decisive year for the whole region," concluded the TV channel.
