migration area. Minister Gevorgyan expressed his gratitude to Swedish
experts for their involvement in preparing the report on surveys
in Armenia's migration management, as well as for their proposals,
which played an essential role in elaborating a national action plan
of migration and asylum problems.
The sides also touched on the Armenia-EU political declaration on
Mobility Partnership Sweden was among the ten signatories. Minister
Gevorgyan noted that Armenia is interested in cooperating with Sweden,
as that country is implementing the most flexible and liberal labor
migration policy.
The sides stressed the importance of implementing a program as part
of the Twinning process. The program envisages improvement of the
migration management system and bringing it to conformity with EU
standards. A consortium of the Swedish and Polish migration services
is to implement the program in cooperation with the Migration Service
of Armenia. The Armenian vice-premier expressed hope that the program
will resolve the current problems, and cooperation with the Swedish
migration service will reach a new level.
Mr. Billstrom expressed his willingness to render assistance in
developing the cooperation.
