TURKEY'S ENERGY MINISTER: "METSAMOR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT IN ARMENIA MUST BE CLOSED"

Baku - APA. Turkey will address to the International Atomic Energy
Agency for closing Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant in Armenia, said
Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz, APA
reports quoting "Milliyet" newspaper.
He said that the international agency has such jurisdiction: "We
will come forward with an initiative on closing of every station,
the effective life of which has expired".
Minister said that he got corresponding reports from the experts on
Metsamor NPP after quake occurred in Van. He said that the radiation
level in the region hasn't increased: "We are against of plants the
effective life of which expired. There are 26 nuclear plants the age
of which passed 40. It is needed to close these stations. But it is
not a refusal from the nuclear energy. "
