YEREVAN
YEREVAN, November 4. /ARKA/. Consumer cooperatives should not be
mixed with collective farms, said Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo
Karapetyan on Friday to the journalists.
"Cooperatives should be established on volunteer basis. People are
united for the organization of joint work. Property of each farmer
remains for him, and he may any time get out of the cooperative",
said Karapetyan.
Next year the government will undertake certain steps to support
cooperatives and promote their development.
"Consolidation of land is our future. Nothing is required from the
farmers forming the cooperative", he said.
He also added that today there are about 125 cooperatives in Armenia,
of which 33 are established this year.
Government of Armenia on November 3 approved consolidation of the
farms.
