Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held a meeting Nov. 4 with
Vice-President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(EBRD), Mr. Jan Fischer.
The Armenian leader made a high appraisal of the EBRD's activities
in Armenia, which are aimed at promoting economic progress in Armenia.
President Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of developing
cooperation with the EBRD. He expressed hope that Mr. Jan Fischer's
visit will contribute to bilateral cooperation.
Mr. Jan Fischer congratulated the Armenian leader on the 20th
anniversary of Armenia's independence. He noted that Armenia and the
EBRD established cooperation 20 years ago as well. Since that time,
the EBRD has invested more than ~@600m in Armenia and has been involved
in more than100 projects. The EBRD vice-president welcomed the reforms
implemented in Armenia's business environment.
Mr. Jan Fischer noted that the EBRD delegation arrived in Armenia to
discuss the priorities of its cooperation with Armenia for 2012-2015.
He re-affirmed the bank's readiness to continue active cooperation
with Armenia and assist the reforms.
