Soap opera actor Arthur Darbinyan has said he believes his daughter was
brutally killed rather than incidentally involved in a car accident.
Speaking to the local daily Chorrord Inqnishkhanutyun, Darbinyan said
that the driver of the car that hit her, did not event push the brakes
and run away at the same speed after running over her.
Mariam Darbinyan was hit by a car on Khanjyan Street on August 3 as
she was trying to cross the street.
After being hit by the car the girl's body was thrown in the air and
then it fell down on another car that belongs to Romik Arakelyan,
breaking the hood and the windscreen.
Arthur Darbinyan plays in an Armenia-made soap opera titled The
Policemen and aired by Armenia TV.
A letter acquired by the paper said that if the driver of the car
that first hit her would even try to brake, they would assume that
it was really an accident rather than done an intentional killing.
It also said that the police arrived at the scene but did not even
try to start an investigation and instead denied the testimony of
Romik Arakelyan, driving the case into a deadlock.
"The purposeful killing of Mariam Darbinyan has not been revealed,"
read the letter.
