    ISTANBUL- Hürriyet Daily News

The exhibition that displays photos by Ara Güler has been curated by
Engin Ã-zendeÅ?. They will remain for one year at the museum's Dilek
    Sabancı Art Gallery.

The Sakıp Sabancı Mardin City Museum is hosting a new exhibition of
works by Ara Güler, one of Turkey's most important living photography
artists, in the southeastern province of Mardin.

Güler is among the seven best photographers in the world, Mardin Mayor
Turhan Ayaz said at an opening ceremony for the exhibition on Nov. 3
that also included the artist himself and Sabancı Foundation trustees
    board member Dilek Sabancı.

`Salvador Dali and [Pablo] Picasso were close friends of Güler. For
example, Picasso did not pose for anyone but Güler,' Ayaz said. `I
wish [Picasso] had a chance to be here and that we could talk with
    him.'

During the exhibition, education programs for children between the
ages 7 and 14 will also be organized.

Sabancı said the Mardin City Museum had been visited by 200,000 people
since its opening and had made the city a significant center for
culture. `We are proud of hosting Güler in this museum; this reflects
the cultural bent of Mardin. We hope that the works of the artist will
    inspire young people.'

The exhibition, curated by photography historian Engin Ã-zendeÅ?, will
display 114 works by Güler and will remain for one year at the
    museum's Dilek Sabancı Art Gallery.
