MP Spartak Melikyan has launched a civil suit against Court of
Cassation President Arman Mkrtumyan and Davit Avetisyan, President
of the Cassation Court's Criminal Chamber.

During an October 4 address in parliament, MP Melikyan raised concerns
regarding the judicial system in Armenia and singled out Mkrtumyan
and Avetisyan for holding the levers of corruption in their hands.

Melikyan stated that the two judges influence mostly all the verdicts
and decisions handed down by the courts in Armenia.

The Cassation Court immediately responded to the charges in its web
site and made note of a criminal case involving the traffic death of
    the MP's father.

After the death of his father, MP Melikyan is launched a civil suit
demanding 550 million in "moral compensation" and a whopping 45
    million for incurred funeral costs.

The Court argued that MP Melikyan, as a litigant in the criminal case,
was using the power of the parliamentary podium to pressure the court.

MP Melikyan says he never made any reference to the death of his
father in his original remarks in parliament.

Angered at the remarks of the Cassation Court, the MP decided to
    sue them.
